Thomas Abramo, M.D., is chief of the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine, Director of the Vanderbilt Children's Hospital Emergency Department and Professor of Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics. He is also the Director of Pediatric Transport. Previously, Dr. Abramo was professor and associate medical director of the Division of Emergency Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, a position he held for four years. Dr. Abramo has been practicing in the field of Pediatric Emergency Medicine since 1985. Dr. Abramo received his medical degree from Meharry Medical College in Nashville. He completed his Pediatrics Emergency Medicine residency and fellowship at the Children’s Hospital Medical Center of Akron in Ohio. He has authored or co-authored more than two dozen peer-reviewed publications, and has published several abstracts, and many chapters and articles. Dr. Abramo’s research interests include non-invasive monitoring, asthma, head trauma, trauma, sepsis, transport medicine and airway management. His clinical expertise is in all aspects of pediatric emergency medicine, pediatric transport medicine and pediatric toxicology.
