Vanderbilt University Medical Center has a research consultation service that provides investigators and staff assistance in navigating the Vanderbilt human research process. They provide an online customized action plan of approvals required for clinical research studies, a program advisory service (Impactt) and formal education for researchers who are new to Vanderbilt plus ongoing educational programs. This valuable resource saves time for the Researcher to use on their Research.

Institutional Review Board (IRB)
The Vanderbilt University Medical Center IRB is established to protect the safety, rights and welfare of human research participants. They review all research protocols, provide individual consultations and formal education for the Vanderbilt Investigators and research staff.

Human Subjects Training
Human Subjects Training is required training for all Vanderbilt Investigators and Research staff. It is provided conveniently online. A VUnet ID and password is required to complete the training.

General Clinical Research Center (GCRC)
Vanderbilt University Medical Center has a general clinical research center that provides space, hospitalization, equipment and supplies as well as nutritional manipulation, biostatistician and study design support, informatics support to any qualified Vanderbilt faculty of the Medical School. Vanderbilt researchers’ further benefit from a core laboratory, recruitment database and a web based electronic database for data aggregation.

Grants & Contracts Management (GCM)
The Vanderbilt Grants & Contracts Management office will facilitate and negotiate contractual agreements for research, professional medical services, training and administers all aspects of grant proposal review. It is the authorized institutional official for external sponsors. They provide investigators with individual consultation through the grants and contracts processes.

Clinical Research Billing Compliance
The department of finance offers a clinical trials billing compliance website for investigators and research staff that may only be accessed using a VUnet ID and password. It provides an electronic quick look-up for research rates on common research procedures and labs. It also has a clinical research budget template making it easy for Vanderbilt researchers to develop and billing system that is compliant with regulatory and Vanderbilt policies.

The Eskind Biomedical Library
The Eskind Biomedical Library (EBL) is a modern 78,000 net square feet facility, dedicated in April 1994. The library collects and provides access to materials to support the teaching, research, and service missions of Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Researchers benefit from their comprehensive digital services, unique consultant services and ongoing educational services.

Department of Biostatistics
Biostatistics is a basic science of biomedical research. The statistical scientist is vital to the biomedical researcher making a contribution to the body of knowledge in medicine. Emergency Medicine currently employs 2 biostatisticians to assist with experimental design, study design, data analysis, data display, statistical computing and interpretation of results. The Vanderbilt Department of Biostatistics holds Bio-statistical clinics daily Monday through Friday at Noon in their Conference room in Medical Center North. This is a valuable opportunity for investigators to learn and have vital feedback on their research projects.
