![]() Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine
Dr. Michael Johnston is a graduate of the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham. He completed a residency in Pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital of Alabama. He has also completed a Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship at Johns Hopkins University. After several years as full-time faculty in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at LSU, he began his residency in Emergency Medicine at the LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, LA, but was displaced due to Hurricane Katrina. He then came to Vanderbilt to finish his final year of residency. Dr. Johnston currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. His clinical interests include procedural sedation, acute pain management, toxicology, and sports medicine.
He is married to Dr. Jill Gilbert, who is a member of the Division of Medical Oncology at Vanderbilt. Outside of work, Dr. Johnston enjoys cooking, music, cycling, hiking, and sea-kayaking . |
