Mark Meredith, M.D. grew up in Jackson, MS. He graduated Cum Laude from the University of Mississippi with a degree in Biology before attending the University of Mississippi Medical School. He completed a three-year residency in Pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital of Alabama followed by a three-year Pediatric Emergency Medicine fellowship at Vanderbilt University in Nashville. Dr. Meredith joined the faculty at Vanderbilt in July 2008 as Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics. He currently serves as the Clinical Director for Pediatric EMS at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. In this role, he helps direct pediatric prehospital and hospital education in Vanderbilt’s Comprehensive Regional Pediatric Center area. He travels across the region with a team providing education to over 60 EMS agencies and 51 hospitals through both local and regional events. Dr. Meredith also serves as Assistant EMS Medical Director for Pediatric Care for Nashville Fire Department, co-chair of the Disaster Committee for the Tennessee Committee of Pediatric Emergency Care, and Medical Director for the Nashville Public Access Defibrillation Program. His research interests are in sudden cardiac death in high schools and EMS education.
