Dr. McKinzie joined the Vanderbilt Emergency Medicine faculty in 1991. He graduated from the Medical College of Virginia in 1986, then went on to complete an internship in General Surgery at the University of Massachusetts followed by an Emergency Medicine residency at Methodist Hospital of Indiana where he served as Chief Resident. 

Dr. McKinzie is board certified in Emergency Medicine and Pediatric Emergency Medicine. His major areas of interest include international health, travel medicine, medical missions, and environmental emergencies.
