Living In Nashville

Vanderbilt University Medical Center's emergency department is the front door to  Middle Tennessee's only Level 1 Trauma Center.  The ED has 100,000 visits per year (55,000 adults, 45,000 peds), with a 20% admission rate.

The VUMC ED hosts the only emergency medicine residency in Tennessee and graduated its first residency class in 1997. Physicians of VUMC ED serve as medical control for Vanderbilt's LifeFlight program, which recently expanded to four helicopters. The LifeFlight program conducts over 2,300 missions per year, and volume continues to increase.
