A native of Florida, Dr. Estrada graduated with research honors from the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville . She then completed a residency in Pediatrics at the University of Florida and is board certified. She went on to complete a fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Vanderbilt and has been actively involved in teaching students and residents ever since.

Dr. Estrada has numerous research interests including injury prevention, non-invasive monitoring, and sedation agents. She is also actively involved in the simulation program.

Dr. Estrada is married and her husband Juan Carlos Estrada, MD, is a member of Vanderbilt's Department of Cardiology.
